Yes, Rick Warren is a douche bag.

December 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

There’s been quite the uproar on liberal blogs over the announcement that Rick Warren will be giving the convocation at the inauguration. Frankly, I don’t think he has any business being there, and I think the guy is an asshole. Rick Warren is no friend to liberals or Democrats or any thinking person who believes in equal rights, tolerance, or evolution. Let me break this down very simply, the people who bought Rick Warren’s book “The purpose driven lowlife”, those people voted for McCain. Those people think Sarah Palin would have been a great VP. Those people think Obama is a Muslim. Those people will not be praying for Barack Obama, they’ll be praying for Jeb Bush to save them in 2012. Fuck them.

On MSNBC Chuck Todd read the electoral college eulogy for the McCain campaign. It was pretty freaking hilarious to watch. He did his best not to say it was over, while saying it was over. Congratulations President Barack Obama.

1 down

I was shocked to see Ohio go blue and go early. This is great news. With Florida and N.C leaning blue we could be looking at a freaking landslide victory for Obama! Fivethirtyeight.com predicted 346 electoral votes for Obama, looks like we might be headed there.

All tonights parties

November 4, 2008 · 2 Comments

My fellow liberals, enjoy yourselves tonight. Stay in the moment, soak up every second of it, because this is going to be historic, and things like this only happen once in a life time. We’ve lived under eight years of maddness, corruption and incompetance that has brought our country to the edge of collapse. After eight years of evil, perhaps now this country will truly have a chance to be great.

As for me, I’ll be starting off my night of fun early this evening at a young professionals election watching party, then later in the night I’ll probably go to one of the official Democratic parties.

Foxnews alternate reality

October 19, 2008 · 3 Comments

This morning when I did my daily scan of political news I took a quick second to do a little comparison of how the major tv news sites were covering todays big story. To make a long story short the Powell endorsement was the top story on every site except Foxnews of course. I wasn’t particularly surprised. Fox does this all the time on their site and on their propaganda channel. Whenever the news is bad for Republicans and good for Democrats they’ll either not cover it, down play it, or out and out lie about it.

Obama gets schooled by Mccain

September 26, 2008 · 1 Comment

Mccain won the debate. He is a fiesty old man, there is no doubt about that. There is also no doubt that Mccain is a complete maniac. Any leader who would sing about bombing another country is truly dangerous and deranged. One of Mccain’s little debate tactics that I found distasteful was his continuous use of the phrase “he doesn’t understand” which was basically his old racist way of saying “this boy ain’t qualified to be president“. I’m sure the Republican base loved that.

Mccain is so full of shit

September 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So apparently Grandpa Mccain wants to cancel the debates to focus on the so called financial crisis, also known as the “Give the People Who Fucked Up the Economy More Money Plan”, also known as the “Save Wall Street At All Costs Plan” also known as “The Reichstag Fire on Wall Street Plan”. First off, old man Mccain has nothing to offer in this so called crisis except making sure that his criminal buddies at Phil Gramm’s UBS get their share of the $700 billion. This is nothing more than a political stunt and an all out massive all PR push by the Bush Regime/Wall Street/Old Man Mccain and the ultra rich to try to get financial equivalent of The Iraq War Authorization.

How to Lose an Election

September 10, 2008 · 2 Comments

Be afraid to call John Mccain a liar when he is lying

Believe that the American people are smart enough to (fill in the blank)

Give a right wing propagandist like Bill O’reilly legitmacy by appearing on his show

Act like John Kerry

Whine about how you’re being swiftboated

Fail to hit back twice as hard

Enough.

August 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

While Obama was speaking I was actually distracted and doing something else on the internets. But when I heard him forcefully say “enough”, it really caught my ear. Something about it was very powerful. Like a firm statement of righteous indignation after bearing witness to eight years of corruption and incompetance.

Another winning line was “individual responsibility and mutual responsibility“. Obviously that is a critique of the Republican’s “personal responsibility” nonsense. The whole problem with the Republican version of personal responsibility is that whenever they’re personally responsible for crime, they take the personal responsibility of making sure that no one holds them personally responsible for what they’ve personally done.

All in all I think Obama delivered a great speech, and took some hard shots at old man Mccain. I had my doubts about the whole open air stadium thing, but it seems to have come off well. I’m sure it must have looked impressive in HD.

btw- I’ve never liked the song “Born in the USA” until I heard it tonight.
