The Road Atlanta

So finally after much hesitation and false starts I’m finally going to Atlanta. I never really had much interest in Atlanta until last year. My girlfriend at the time had lived in Atlanta and spoke very highly of it. I had been looking for an escape from this shit hole known as Tampa, but at the time I was thinking more along the lines of Miami. But anyways after a years worth of reading Atlanta forums, the AJC, Creative loafing Atlanta, and raiding public photo buckets tagged Atlanta, I’m convinced that I should and will move to Atlanta.

Now, what exactly am I looking for from Atlanta? Umm a dam job! But seriously first and foremost I want four seasons again. I want sweater weather, not sweaty weather, I want cold Decembers. I’ve got a suitcase full of awesome sweaters that I haven’t worn since I left NY. Secondly on a visual level I want to live in a place that looks more like NY or Chicago, with a mix of the new south. I don’t like Tampa, I never have, and I hate the fact that it’s always hot here, I hate the sand and stupid swamps and palms, the seasons never change, and thanks to global warming it’s now hot as hell here. 

Also with gas prices going fucking insane, it’s become a necessity that I explore mass transit options. I have an 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee aka gas guzzler, and everyday i ask myself why the fuck didn’t i buy a Jetta or an Accord? Anyways, I want to change the way I live and commute, I want to ride the train and bus, I even want to incorporate a bike into my routine. I believe that peak oil is here, and it’s going to force everyone to change their driving habits. I want to make those changes now, and I feel like I’ll be a better person for it. But of course, here in Tampa, there is no fucking mass transit, no train, no fucking nothing. There is an under funded bus service where you get the pleasure of sitting on an uncovered bench in the middle of blazing hot fucking sun while you wait for the bus. This place is so far behind Atlanta, Dallas, and Charlotte N.C, it’s like Tampa is a third world country.

UFC 84/Douche bag shirts/Sleepiness

This was my first time ever watching a UFC in any place other than my living room. I’ve heard all the horror stories about watching a UFC at a hooters, or whatever low brow establishment. I’ve heard the stories of dumb drunk fans, idiots who know nothing about MMA, idiots in Affliction and Tap out Tshirts who think they’re tuff because they train, and other mouth breathers you don’t want to be around. I figured i could avoid some of that by going to a semi upscale sports bar like Champps. And yes, for the most part the people in the place where generally well behaved, and not as horrible as i thought they would be. 

I thought i could role my UFC and dating crap in to one package, my plan was to hit the bar right after the UFc ended at 12:30ish. Unfortunetely, after sitting for 2 and a half hours, i was tired and not in the mood to go hunting. Combined with the fact that, i did’nt really want the 1am left overs that were still trying to make the dream happen at blue martini.

By the way, have you ever noticed those dudes who have their special friday or saturday night shirt. You know, that special shirt they only wear for the club or bar. Well, i saw that guy way too many times saturday night. I call him douche bag shirt guy. I also saw douche bag girl. You know of which i speak. She’s that girl with the stripper out fit, the high heels, and too much makeup. As a matter of fact, i actually saw a bunch of douche bag couples! Proving once again that the de-evolution of the human race is inevitable.

Oh and before i forget, Wanderlei Silva is still a threat, and somewhere Rampage Jackson is frightened.

NBA Draft Lottery= This is why the NBA sucks

Nba draft, ok I wrote this offline, a half hour before the nba draft lottery, which by the way the draft lottery is the most retarded concept on earth, and it’s part of the reason why the nba sucks. The worst team is supposed to get the first pick, not a fucking bag of ping pong balls and a good luck wish. But I digress, before this draft order is revealed, I must admit I am a long suffering knicks fan, but for some reason I have a good feeling about how this lottery will shake out for the knicks. I almost want to say they’ll win it. But that’s a bit of a stretch. I do feel like they’ll break into the top 3.

 

Updated- Well the NBA once again proves why it is complete garbage. The Chicago Bulls won the lottery, despite the fact that they only had a 1% chance of winning the lottery. The Knicks got screwed and got the 6th pick, which means that they’ll get a non-all-star type player, like Channing Frye for example. And it insures that the knicks will be right back in the lottery next year, and it insures that they’ll get screwed again in 09 by the NBA’s stupid retarded draft lottery.

GTA 4

Well, today i just traded in GTA 4. Not that it isn’t a great game, it is. But i’ve beaten the game, it took me 43 hours, it gave me alot of entertainment, alot of frustration, and one broken controller. I can truly say that i have no desire to play this game again anytime soon, or perhaps ever again. Yes, we all know about the great things in this game. An amazingly scaled city, its semi open world simulation, the story line and the characters. But, when you really break GTA 4 down to it’s basic components, its basically a really crappy shooter, and a mediocre driving game. 

There are some elements in this game that i really like, but they are not fully fleshed out. There are some slight RPG elements to the game, although no matter what, you still get the feeling that you’re on a set story path no matter what you chose. I think going forward, rockstar has 2 choices, GTA needs to either go MMO, or it needs become actual action RPG. The reason why i traded in GTA is because frankly it has no replay value, this open living world is really not that open or even alive. 

My feeling on GTA is that i’ve been there done that. I did it in vice city, i did it in San Andreas. I’ve killed cops, killed FBI, killed innocent civilians, killed hookers, i’ve been there done that. Now it no longer appeals to me.

My overall score for GTA 4 is  9.5 it is a great game, it has some extremely frustrating control issues, but nothing so bad that it ruins the game.

The whole story line and it’s semi believability completely broke down at the end and turned into some shitty derivative gangster movie. The ending was fucking garbage. I got much more fulfillment out of  “That Special Someone” mission.
